Chan is a forester with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada (1977).
He had worked as a consultant/advisor for various private and public institutions such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of Rome, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Sabah, and the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM).
He was a senior management staff with the Forestry Division of Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd, the commercial arm of Yayasan Sabah (YS). He helped in the sustainable management of the forest concession of YS which is well over a million hectares in size.
He had managed (or involved in) numerous international projects in forestry development projects in his career, some notable examples being:-
1.A CO2 offset project based on rehabilitation of logged over forest with funding from the Forest Absorbing Carbon-dioxide Emission Foundation (FACE) of the Netherlands.
2.A CO2 offset project based on reduced impact logging techniques, funded by the New England Power of Massachusetts, USA.
3.INIKEA, a rehabilitation of logged over forest funded by IKEA of Sweden
He had also collaborated in R&D work with several other agencies such as CIRAD-Forêt of France, Swedish University of Agricultural Science (SUAS) of Sweden, the Australian Tree Seed Centre of Australia and the Japan International Research Centre for Agricultural Science (JIRCAS) of Japan.
He had presented numerous papers in seminars and conferences at both local and international levels. He was a joint editor with Mr. K. Matsumoto of JIRCAS of the Proceedings of the Seminar on High Value Timber Species for Plantation establishment – Teak and Mahogany. JIRCAS Working Report No.16. 124 pp. ISSN 1341-710X.

Fields of Contributions to Society :
1. As Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Services, she was closely involved in the planning, monitoring and successful construction of five (5) major public libraries and two (2) Old Folk Homes projects.
She was also one of the prime movers who assisted the Minister, YB Datuk Ariah Ahmad in the setting up of the Sabah Women Advisory Council (MPWS) as well as the Consumer Protection Council. Her compassion for the poor and less fortunate led to her involvement with a number of NGOs namely, Yayasan Tun Fuad Foundation, Taman Seri Puteri Mengatal, Food for the Hungry International Sabah Malaysia, and the Inner wheel Club of Kota Kinabalu.
2. Her time heading the Ministry of Tourism and Environment saw a more aggressive and intense promotion of the State Tourism attractions to overseas markets.The Sabah Tourism Master Plan was formulated and approved for implementation. More tourism events of international standards, like the World Kite Competition and the Mt. Kinabalu Climbathon were held in the State. The official gazetting of the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary to protect the wildlife and their habitat and control of coastal development to prevent alienation of foreshore reserves were both great contribution to the environmenal conservation of the State. Her interest to help out the State Tourism Industry prompted her to be a member of the Board of Governors of the ATI College in Kota Kinabalu.
George Hong has been working with Yayasan Sabah Group for 30 years involving in investment appraisal & monitoring, portfolio investment and tourism. Currently, he is involved in the management of Borneo Nature Tours Sdn Bhd and Innoprise Jungle Lodge Sdn Bhd, and representing shareholder in the Board of Directors of Shangri-la Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa.

Simon Koh has more than 30 years of experience with International NGOs in serving the community in various capacities. He is currently the Director of Operation, Asia Pacific region, Special Olympics International.
His social work began in 1978 when he joined as a member of the Kota Kinabalu Metro Lions Club and went on to become its President in fiscal year 1983-1984. Thereafter, he was elected to serve as Governor of Lions District 308-A (Singapore, Johor, East Malaysia and Brunei) in 1993-1994 and as Council Chairman of Lions Multiple District 308 (Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore) in fiscal year 2009-2010.
Simon was the Chairman of the Convention Organising Committee of the 38th Multiple District 308 Lions Convention in Kota Kinabalu in the Millennium year of 2000.
Simon Koh was founder of the Special Olympics program in Malaysia. He established Special Olympics Sabah in 1999 and served as its Chairman for a 3 year term and as Chairman of Special Olympics Malaysia, in 2001-2003. From 2003-2014, he was the advisor of Special Olympics Sabah and Special Olympics Malaysia.
Outside of the Lions and Special Olympics movement, Simon has also been active in other local NGOs. He served as the Treasurer/auditor of the Society for the Blind in 1979-1982; Board of Visitors for Henry Gurney Reform School in 1985-1986; PTA Chairman of Chung Hwa Primary School, Likas in 1998-2002; and Vice Chairman of Lung Yen Clan Association, 2007-2008.

Alex Loh, is currently Chief Resident Representative, Vietnam for S P Setia Bhd and concurrently the General Director of Setia Lai Thieu One Member Company Ltd. He has more than 23 years of experience in the field of property development with more than 5 years with a project management focus. Apart from property development, Alex has 20 years of experience in the field of commercial and investment banking.
Alex has worked in the Development & Commercial Bank, Malaysia (what is the RHB Bank today), Nederlandsche Middestandse Bank (NMB Bank which was acquired by the Post and subsequently ING Bank is also known as the National Microfinance Bank Limited) and Chase Manhattan Bank.
As the Chief Representative in Vietnam, he was responsible for asset identification, corporate branding, investor relations and fund raising in Vietnam. Under his leadership, the company secured 4 projects which are EcoLakes, Eco Xanh, Eco Xuan and Eco Seasons in Vietnam with total projected turnover well in excess of USD1 billion.
Alex has a Master of International Management from the America Graduate School of International Management, Arizona, U.S.A. and Bachelor of Business Administration (Cum Laude; Hons) majoring in marketing and management, National University of Malaysia.

Experience Dr. Tan has more than 30 years of investment and commercial banking experience. Until recently, he was the CEO of a public investment holding company. After graduation, he worked for a diversified group of companies in the areas of natural resources development. He then joined a development bank engaging in mostly agricultural project financing and supervision. Thereafter, attached to a retail financial institution and eventually responsible for the region of East Malaysia.
Supervised one of the best equity performing funds at the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in the 1990s (based on Watson Wyatt Survey) and a recent eleven years of compounded average growth rate of 29% per annum (audited by Ernst & Young). Currently, he is researching into the working of charitable foundations, and impact investing.
Education BSc (Hons) in Agriculture with Agricultural Economics and a MA in Financial Economics majoring in Banking and Finance from the Institute of European Finance, University of Wales, United Kingdom (UK). Later, he attended the New York Institute of Finance in US Money and Capital Markets, and obtained his PhD in Finance from Loughborough University, UK. He is also a Certified Financial Planner.

A graduate in Economics (Honours) from the University of London in 1977, Albert Teo has been in the tourism industry for the last thirty nine years since 1977. In October 2006, he was appointed Adjunct Lecturer by Edith Cowan University ECU, Australia, for his contribution to the ecotourism industry, and in 2012, conferred a Fellow of the University for his work with the university as well as his philanthropy, community and social work. In March 2016 he was appointed an Adjunct Professor of University Malaysia Sabah UMS.
A keen photographer, he has also trekked over 1000km in Borneo, as well as published ten books; some of these include the best-selling "Sabah - Land of the Sacred Mountain", "Journey through Borneo", "Saving Paradise - The Story of Sukau Rainforest Lodge" co-authored with Carol Patterson, and the latest book "A Souvenir of Sabah Malaysian Borneo". The lodge which opened in 1995 became a charter member of National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World.
His companies, Borneo Eco Tours and Sukau Rainforest Lodge, have won numerous international ecotourism awards including Asia's Leading Green Hotel at the 17th World Travel Award 2010; the 2012 SKAL International Sustainable Development in Tourism Award for Tour Operators, awarded at the 73rd SKAL International Congress in Korea; the 2014 Wild Asia Responsible Awards - Best in Community Engagement and Development, the 2015 1st Place Honoree of ETC, USA (Educational Travel Community) Responsible Tourism Showcase. In 2013 BEST Society received the UNWTO Ulysses Award for excellence and innovation in tourism in the NGO category in Madrid, Spain.
Albert Teo has organized five highly successful international ecotourism conferences in Malaysia including: the World Ecotourism Conference and Field Seminars in 1999, the first Asia Pacific Ecotourism Conference (APECO) in 2002, and the Borneo Ecotourism Conference (BEC) in 2005. He co-convened the Borneo Tourism Conference (BTC) in 2007, held in Kuching, with Professor Ross Dowling of Edith Cowan University, Australia in September 2007. He also convened his second and the 8th Asian Pacific Ecotourism Conference (APECO) on 16-18th of October 2014, in Kota Kinabalu.
Albert has served in various capacity in the tourism industry including: Sabah Chapter Chairman of Malaysian Association of Tours and Travel Agents (MATTA) 1996/2001; Chairman of the Sabah Tourist Association 1985/86; Board of Advisors to The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) 2010/15, USA; Marketing Committee, Sabah Tourism Board 1996/2017. Albert was also a member of the finalist selection committee for the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) for five years. Albert is presently Charter Member / Vice Chair of Asian Ecotourism Network AEN and board member of Global Ecotourism Network GEN.
Albert is presently focusing his energy on developing social entrepreneurship through his community/environment foundation, Borneo Ecotourism Solutions and Technologies, or BEST Society (www.bestsociety.org).
